Hibiki 35 Year Old Kutani Decanter
Hibiki 35 Year Old Kutani Decanter. A very recent release from Hibiki, that only came onto the market on 29th November 2016. Created to celebrate the 400th anniversary of Japanese porcelain production. The 35-year-old blend is presented within a beautifully decorative handmade ceramic decanter and accompanied by a finely crafted wooden box.
This handmade ceramic bottle is to honor and mark the 400th anniversary of the appearance of porcelain in Japan. Suntory has used the expertise of traditional ceramics producers in Arita and Kutani on the island of Kyushu. The nose has ripe fruits, vanilla, and honey. The palate is a delicate balance of sweet and sour with woody notes permeating throughout. The finish is subtle and refined with a lingering influence of Mizunara (Japanese oak) casks.
The Kutani (a territory of Japan) style of Japanese ceramic-ware dates back to the mid-17th Century, after a gold-mine worker in the area named Goto Saijiro, was sent by his feudal lord to learn the art of porcelain manufacture in Arita. While the artifacts produced in Arita were more conservative and discernibly Chinese in feel, the Kutani developed their own more colorful, visceral style. A limited edition of only 150 bottles worldwide!!!
